Rejoice, Patience, Continue.

I’m currently on my Finals week but as usual, my creativity level is very high when it’s not an appropriate time to make something lol.

A bit talking; I finally got the results of my Psychology test to determine what major should I take… and the result is very, VERY surprising. I did get Visual Communication Design as the first choice, but the other two are… International Relations and Sociology. These are really surprising, considering that I’m currently a Science student instead of Social. To be honest, my result for the Science/Social class 3 years ago was inconclusive too they call it Divergent. My ability in both logical and analyzing is very equal. One of the thing I like to do is observing people, analyzing what’s happening on the current society, the background, and what are the effects. Being a Go-Green Ambassador was one of my childhood goal too hahaha.

I’m not sure if this is an advantage or not. I still don’t get it until now and I swear I laughed too hard when the psychologist showed me the result lol.

Moving on. Here’s another lettering I’ve made today. I don’t remember if I’ve told you guys, but since last month I ‘gave up’ and finally listened to my class councilor’s suggestion to read Bible daily. Well, It does wonderful things.Romans 12:12 is currently my strength because it sound very beautiful and promising.

If you couldn’t notice it, this isn’t really my style… The flowers and all the colors were inspired by the bright and full-of-gradation illustration style of @jesiiii on Instagram.

(and I think I don’t want to do this style again bahahah let’s stick to the simple watercolor a la Sherlyn.)

romans 1212right click to save HQ version, and feel free to print it for yourself!

Have a nice day! Don’t forget to study!

The Runner

I love love love LOVE THE MAZE RUNNER SERIES!!!!!
Where should I even start? The main idea is genius, the characters are built perfectly, the writing style is interesting. Like seriously, everyone should read this series. I’m still on Book Two because I read really slow.

My favorite character would be Minho because HE’S SO FRIGGIN SARCASTIC ♥
(I’ll kick you shucks if you thought I like him because he’s Korean)
Apparently he’s the leader of the Runners who never gives up and well, really really sarcastic to the point of handsomeness.

But I have to admit that he’s physically good-looking from the way Dashner described him hehe.

My second favorite would be Newt because he’s clever and calm when everyone in The Glade is in panic. He can also glue everyone when the situations is messy.

The movie will be out soon in September. I must say that they have the best cast ever; the actors look exactly the same like how I pictured them. (Not like *ahem* Divergent series. Their castings kinda pissed me). I hope the storyline isn’t disappointing too.

I can’t wait!!!!!!

Call It Magic

I’m in love with Coldplay’s newest album “Ghost Stories”. I know I’m really really really late but I just got into Coldplay hahaha. Their songs have soothing melodies, great for some calm down moments or sleep.

And some songs inspired to make something.

I’ve been into hand-lettering lately. It’s fun.. because it’s like drawing but not drawing. And plus, I love words.

Whoa! This year is one of many crazy and hectic years of Indonesia. It’s because we’re going to have an election for Indonesia’s seventh president. And the process are quite… something. Choosing the candidates and partners, the debates, the campaign.. It was something between irritating, annoying, but extremely interesting.

I was never fond of politics and stuffs like that, especially in Indonesia, because let’s admit it, everything sounds the same on every election in the past. The same fake promises, black campaigns, bullshits, slight racism, etc that most of the time people choose to be golput.

But this year is different. And I’m not the only one who felt this. The enthusiasm rockets to a whole new level.

Made a typography some days ago, just got time to finish it. I update stuffs more at my Instagram! (@sherlen)

Mr. Joko Widodo or commonly called as Jokowi has been the talk since he first became the governor of Jakarta. And that talk was about good things; how he could manage some of Jakarta’s infinite problems like the flood, how he’s willing to visit each small villages (blusukan) who are usually neglected, and his care towards small business.

I was hopeless actually when I realized that it’s almost time to choose a new president because I thought who do we get here? I’m tired of the same bullshits and well, so far as I’ve lived, nothing has changed. So when they make Jokowi a candidate I was excited. Maybe Indonesia can change, I thought. But not everyone is happy with this; it looks like he left Jakarta unfinished. But you know, if you think about it, he will make all cities and provinces in Indonesia better by that, not just Jakarta.

Some people accepted that, and they turned to be his supporters. And I was SERIOUSLY AMAZED by the amount of creativity they got. The campaigns are clever, catchy and have awesome designs. And convincing enough.

Why I (desperately) want him to win? Because he has been talking about the creative industries in Indonesia, which is something that I NEVER heard from anyone in the politic world. I’ve had enough of plagiarism and illustrations being thought as just a hobby not a job. Jokowi seems to really support the creative industry, aside from small business. Those big people from politic world always talk about the economy and foreign companies and those bla bla bla big businesses, but they never brought up creative industries and small businesses as source of the country’s income.

I think Indonesia has a lot of potential in the creative industry since a long time ago, but the government never really… you know, supports them.

It’s time, man.

I’m sad that I still can’t vote tomorrow. If you already have the privelege: VOTE. Every vote counts. It could actually help your chosen candidate to win.

I respect whoever your choice is, and this is purely my own opinion.

Cheers for a better Indonesia!
